Summer wrap-ups! July Updates

Hello friends! I am excited to share some awesome things that have been going in this past month! I was thinking the other day about how the summer has flown by and August is already here, ready to start another school year.

I have shared with you that I will be staying on staff with FOCUS part-time for the next three years at both the SMU and TWU Dallas campus. And, I want to express again how excited I am for this new role! As we progressed through July, I have been thinking and praying for this upcoming school year. I will admit that I had a lot of feelings of inadequacy and simply not feeling good enough to be a campus pastor. But this past week I was reminded that God doesn't need my great talents are showmanship to get His work done. He just needs a faithful heart. I was reminded too that when Jesus tells us that he is sending us out into the world, He doesn't send us alone! John 16:7 says, "Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you." The helper we are promised is the Holy Spirit. And we know from scripture that where the Holy Spirit is, there is power! So when we go out into this world to share Jesus with people, we are told we are literally going with the Spirit of God in us! This is AMAZING news!

This month has also been filled with preparations for the upcoming school year. We have been having conversations with potential student leaders and so far, God is putting together an awesome team! We truly couldn't do the ministry we do on campus without our student leaders! They are the hands and feet of our ministry. They are meeting students in their classes, in the dining halls and in their dorms and apartments and building friendships with them and inviting them to FOCUS and ultimately into a relationship with Christ!  Please be praying for them as they prepare their hearts and minds for this upcoming school year.
