God at work at Winter Camp, Mario Kart parties and Birthdays

Hello Everyone!! I am so so excited to share what God has been doing in ministry this past month. I knew January would go by fast, but I had no idea it was going to go by that fast. But I feel like in the fast paced month that it was, God showed me how he was working in the lives of students, friends and in my life personally. And that's what I want to spend some time sharing with you today.

We had Winter Camp this past month and it was I think one of my favorite winter camps to date. Not only was the weather beautiful, we had students from SMU and TWU Dallas who were so excited to be there! I got to watch as our students gave their all during worship, got excited about reading through and learning from the Psalms (our theme for the weekend) and connect with one another. One of the most encouraging things to see was during our lament night, a time where students are able to open up about things that are grieving them.  I watched as our students prayed with one another, comforted one another and spoke words of life from scripture to one another. I felt like God reminded me that He is building a firm foundation, first on Him, at our SMU and TWU Dallas campuses. And even in moments of discouragement, I just need to keep trusting Him. Throughout the weekend, I watched as our students formed deeper friendships with one another, but also formed new friendships with students from other campuses! They had a heart and love for people that extended beyond themselves and infected the lives of others! This is kingdom work and it was so so cool to see. So many students shared about how impactful winter camp was for them and how much closer they felt to God and with one another. God is so good!! Check out some pictures from camp!

Another way I saw God working was through me personally. I had a bit of a health scare this past month that had me a bit worried. But after a series of tests, everything came back clear (praise God) ! But I got to see not only God grow a deeper trust and intimacy in my personal relationship with Him, but also how he uses others to comfort and shower His love on us. The amount of people that expressed love and care for me during all of this was so evident of God working through those around me and blessing me with such amazing people! I also had my birthday this past month and again, I felt so insanely blessed to have so many people shower me with love, sweet gifts and just presence! Our God is so so good!

Lastly, I wanted to give you guys a reminder that we have our Spring Showcase Fundraiser coming up in just a few weeks! This is the annual show that FOCUS puts together to send our students to SICM training (Student Institute of Campus Ministry) in Washington. At SICM, students will spend a week learning from experienced campus missionaries on how to make a difference for Jesus on their campuses!  Here are the details on the show!

Time: Saturday, February 29th

Showtimes: 2:30 PM and 6:30 PM with an art show in between at 5:15 PM

Place: Bent Tree Bible Fellowship, 4141 International Pkwy, Carrollton, TX 75007
